We are getting many questions about the status of the 2020 Washington County Fair, understandably so. One aspect of Fairs is the tradition that surrounds them. It’s something to count on every summer. With the uncertainty surrounding all of our lives now as a result of the COVID-19 virus, it’s only natural to look towards the comfort of something that has been a consistent part of every summer. This is why we want to give you all an update.
As much as we hoped we wouldn’t have to tell you this, after much thoughtful consideration, the decision has been made by the Fair Board to not hold the Washington County Fair this year. Please know this was a very difficult decision for us to make. We wanted to move forward, but our Fair dates are early in relation to how soon we all might be able to get back out into the community after sheltering in place due to the Corona virus. There are too many unknowns related to keeping the community safe right now and what might be allowed in relation to “Mass Gatherings” and how that could impact an event the size of our Fair. Because our top priority is the protection and well-being of our community, we concluded it would not be responsible to move forward with the Fair this year. We will all get back together to celebrate as a community once it is safe to do so, and we’re already thinking about the Big Fair Fun we want to bring you in 2021! #fairstrong
